May 2023: Who Do You Support?

How much time do you spend on the internet? If you’re anything like me, you probably spend more time online than you want to, and it is starting to show. It feels like every day is an endless, repetitive cycle of doom scrolling through conspiracy theories, gardening videos, and things that make me feel like I’m not doing enough. My logical mind understands that the timers I have on my social media help limit my exposure to crappy accounts online, but they still seem to take up space inside my brain.

That’s why all of my PublicSq reels from this month have showcased the other folks who use their time to promote brands that help us get back to our humanity. The first clip I threw together was of Will Witt describing how Big Pharma is manipulating the rhetoric to earn millions, if not billions from America’s most vulnerable demographic: children.

I wanted something a little lighter for my second video, which is how I found @somechickwhoshoots — the reel she put together of all the amazing alternative brands you can find on PublicSq is absolutely inspiring. For the first time since watching the new season of Selling Sunset, I don’t feel like a fashion failure.

After a month of scrolling through PublicSq’s socials and app, I discovered that I am far from alone in my yearning for a different type of online experience. According to @GrahamAllen1, PSQ surpassed Amazon. Watch the whole video here for more information. The main takeaway from this clip is that YOU are not alone in wanting something different from what you’re being fed.

The Western Experiment of consumerism isn’t just unsustainable from a global perspective, but from a social one too. How we spend money matters now more than ever, as fewer and fewer companies will survive the crunches that lay ahead of us. If you want to find more brands (and a better online experience) check out PublicSq today, and follow them on Instagram here.
